I moved to Cheddleton in 1974 after living in Kenya for three years where I worked for the East African Railways as part of the UK Government's overseas aid program. My two sons went to Cheddeton primary school and then to Westwood High School. I worked at the Britannia Building Society in the IT department and after leaving there in 1992 I was self-employed and supported Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Staffordshire providing IT systems and training.
I have been involved in various local charities and have been a Governor of Westwood High School, Chairman of the Twinning Association and Captain of Leek Golf Club. For five years, I was a Non Executive Director of the Staffordshire Moorlands NHS Primary Care Trust and conducted many Quality Outcome Framework reviews in local GP surgeries.
I live in Cheddleton and walk local footpaths with the Ramblers and lead walks across the Peak District.
I have 3 granddaughters and my partner has 7 grandchildren. We spend as much time as possible with them.
There are so many issues which have to be addressed; the NHS, Social Care, transport, housing, policing, security, the environment to name a few. However, my top priority is Education. I believe we must give every child the best possible education we can afford. From Early Years through school and to further education we owe it to the next generation to give them opportunity, fulfilment and excitement. Let's put education at the top of our priorities.
